I have heard and seen it all and Jimmy Cater is correct in his analogy. Bigotry is and has long been a prevalent issue. Isn't it time for the world to grow up and accept our differences and our sameness?Bughihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13466570421442056028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1456436071853875845.post-72714159546994081162009-09-18T20:02:10.897-05:002009-09-18T20:02:10.897-05:00Unfortunately, from what I have observed in Canada...Unfortunately, from what I have observed in Canada, where racism isn't quite as rampant, in order for bigotry against one race to subside or disappear it is usually replaced by bigotry towards another race. In Toronto back in the 50's and 60's there was a great deal of prejudice displayed towards Italians. This is no longer true but it was replaced by the equally detestable bigotry towards Pakistanis in the 70's. Today,in Toronto, I am not aware of any overwhelming, blatant hostility to any particular race but then, again, I am not a minority of any sort. I just hope that one day the insanity of racism will make itself plainly known to every person on this planet - but that's not likely to happen until parents acknowledge it and teach their children the evils of it.Michelle Matthews (Tymlee)https://www.blogger.com/profile/03306849848234278958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1456436071853875845.post-17070322217328383242009-09-17T20:20:50.523-05:002009-09-17T20:20:50.523-05:00In addition to Spacetrucker's observations, Pr...In addition to Spacetrucker's observations, President Carter didn't say that everyone who disagreed with President Obama's agenda were racists, he said that “I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man,” A lot of the demonstrated animosity is a choreographed dance using dumbasses who think it is great to get on TV and voice their ill reasoned views to an eager audience fed by daily doses of Hannity, Beck and Limbaugh. While I do not believe that Jimmy Carter (arguably one of the most honest politicians that ever gained office) meant that all disageement with President Obama's policies is racially motivated, there is undoubtedly an element of racism in these protests, the most obvious being the stupidity over the President's speech to schoolchildren. I could go on and on about that, but suffice it to say that when the text of a speech is published in its entirety prior to being delivered, then the only excuse parents would have for not allowing their children to hear the speech would be that they do not want their children to look up to and admire the President of our country, who just happens to be a black man.EB Underhillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10397585586932025290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1456436071853875845.post-61971649560286780882009-09-17T18:48:09.303-05:002009-09-17T18:48:09.303-05:00bama, If u live in Alabama, and I know u do, U kno...bama, If u live in Alabama, and I know u do, U know I am right.
